Cook's Tips
If your ground beef is 80% fat or higher, you may not need to use any cooking oil in the skillet as the beef will provide its own oil.
If your beef ends up releasing too much oil, feel free to drain the excess oil before adding it to the sheet pan.
Cut your vegetables in bite-sized pieces that are all roughly the same size. This will ensure they all cook evenly and are ready at the same time.
Spread out the ground beef and vegetable mixture on the sheet pan in an even layer to make sure all of the vegetables get cooked properly.
Make this a one-pan dish by using a cast-iron skillet that can go right into the oven.

FAQs
Can I cook the ground beef right on the sheet pan in the oven?
The ground beef needs to be cooked in a skillet to ensure the meat gets fully cooked and browned. If everything is raw, the vegetables may burn before the meat is finished.
What is in Mexican seasoning?
For the most part, a Mexican seasoning blend contains cilantro, chili powder, Mexican oregano, and cumin. You can make your own blend or even use a taco or fajita seasoning packet.
How much salt do I add to ground beef to season it?
This depends on how much your seasoning already contains. Generally, 1 teaspoon of salt per one pound of ground beef is a good start. Be sure to taste the finished product to adjust any seasonings.
